December 3, 2025BORN TOO SOON
WORLD PREMATURITY DAY π
In the month of November each year, we all take a pause to honour the smallest, greatest and bravest warriors among us; PRETERM and PREMATURE babies. They are born too soon, often so tiny to hold without fear, yet they carry strength and might that humbles every heart that meets them.
A preterm birth changes a family forever.
πIt turns joyful anticipation into sudden deep concern.
πIt replaces a babyβs first cry with the quiet hum of NICU machines.
πAnd transforms ordinary parents into extraordinary fighters overnight.
For many families, the journey through the NICU is a rollercoaster of hope and deep fear as they celebrate every daily breath, every gram gained and every tiny victory. Trust me, behind every incubator is a real life story:
πa mother who whispers prayers through fresh tears
π a father trying to be strong even when the weight feels too heavy
π siblings, aunties, uncles and grandparents waiting at home, confused but hopeful.
Yet in the middle of these fragile beginnings is something very powerful: RESILIENCE.
Preterm babies take us through the school of life. They teach us that life, even in its smallest form, is fierce.
They show us that strength isnβt measured in size and that miracles donβt always come loud ; sometimes, they come wrapped in tiny fingers which are barely able to grasp anything.
Today, we celebrate:
π The babies who fought their way into the world and are still fighting.
π The parents who carry courage in their hearts even when they feel afraid.
π The families who stand together through uncertainty and long nights.
π The healthcare teams ππ½ππ½β Neonatologists, Nurses, Family doctors, Lab scientists, Pharmacists etc β whose hands hold not just babies, but hope.ππΌππΌ
World Prematurity Month is more than awareness.
Itβs a reminder that behind every early birth is a story of love, courage, and unimaginable family unity and whole person care.
To every little fighter and every family walking this journey ;
π You are seen.
π You are loved.
π You are not alone.
And to every baby who didnβt make it home, we remember you with honour and tenderness.π―οΈ
π Let us continue to support, educate, advocate, and stand with families of premature babies.
Together, we can give every baby (no matter how early their start) a chance to thrive.
