RESOURCES FOR PSG NATIONAL CHILD ROAD SAFETY CAMPAIGN LAUNCH & CPD
July 15, 2025Talensi District, Upper East Region
The Paediatric Society of Ghana (PSG) continues to expand the reach of its CIP-Ghana grant project — “Mastering Maternal and Newborn Emergencies” — with targeted frontline training in Talensi District, Upper East Region.
This district-level session built on the earlier regional Training of Trainers (ToT) held in Bolgatanga, equipping additional health professionals at the primary care level with the skills and confidence to respond effectively to maternal and newborn emergencies.
Training Focus:
Health workers from CHPS compounds, health centres, and district hospitals in Talensi received practical instruction in:
- Essential Newborn Care
- Neonatal resuscitation
- Recognition of danger signs during labour
- Referral decision-making and coordination
The training was led by experienced facilitators under the PSG-CIP framework, using simulation-based techniques to reinforce skill acquisition.
A Step Toward Safer Deliveries
This activity aligns with PSG’s commitment to service innovation and supports the implementation of the Live Digital Blackboard (LDB) — a real-time monitoring tool for labour cases at the district level. The training in Talensi ensures that peripheral facilities can:
- Respond more quickly to emergencies
- Escalate appropriately to higher-level care
- Support safer outcomes for mothers and newborns
Acknowledgements
PSG extends its sincere appreciation to the Ghana Health Service (GHS), the USAID – Center for Innovation and Impact (CII), AMP Health, and Grand Challenges Canada 🇨🇦 for their steadfast support in funding and guiding this critical national initiative.
