A Very Yellow Day at NICU
May 30, 2020A Baby’s Cry For Help – A Case of Cerebral Palsy
March 25, 2021Superhero Mums
(Definition: Mums of children battling cancer)
By Dr. Yemah Mariama Bockarie
This is for all the courageous mums
Who brave it out there in hospital rooms
Desperately hoping their little one will survive
Never taking for granted each breath of life
The cancer diagnosis was sudden and shocking
Devastated your world, as if the ground was crumpling
Yet day by day, you are strong for your daughter
Even though her body grows weaker and weaker
It is hard for you to watch her go through chemo
And many nights you pray for her not to let go
Though you have been told her chances are slim
You never allow your hope to grow dim
There is so much strength in your silent tears
So much valour, despite a million fears
Battle-weary, exhausted yet still, you stand
Fighting the odds, as you hold her precious hand
Keep believing, keep going, keep shining your light
The best way I know to join in your fight
Is to make this September, one to remember
By raising awareness for childhood cancer
